St. Louis County Government Academy

The St. Louis County Government Academy provides county residents an opportunity to learn how it operates.  Participants will “graduate” from the free 8-week course with a greater understanding of government operations.

IE017-067Graduates Will Learn:

  • The relationship between citizens, St. Louis County Council and the St. Louis County Administration
  • How and why projects are undertaken and the manner in which services are provided
  • Overview of the budget planning process
  • The development review process
  • The transportation planning process
  • Many other County government responsibilities and functions

Course Description:

Directors and senior management staff within each county department will lead each class and provide an interactive learning experience through which presenters and participants learn from each other using case studies, site tours, group discussion, as well as hands‐on experience.

There will be 30 students per course. Eight (8) weekly classes will last two (2) hours each. Workbooks will be provided for each.

  3. If this program is as good as the St Louis County Police Department Citizen’s Academy, it will be time well spent.

  4. I agree — that if the County Government program is as good as the St. Louis County Police Dept. Citizen’s Academy (and CERT) — it will be time exceptionally well spent!! Really looking forward to learning things I should have already known for many years but didn’t somehow.
